Recruiting Report: Asa Shannon (2019)
Asa Shannon was very efficient for Episcopal in their season opening win at Georgetown Day. Shannon is an unsigned senior who is hearing from a handful of Patriot and Ivy league schools among other programs, but is considering taking a prep year. He discussed this and much more during a recent interview.
PH: How would you evaluate the team performance in your first win of the season?
AS: “I like how we played as a team and shared the ball. We committed too many fouls though, so we’ll have to clean that up.”
PH: What’s the most improved part of your game?
AS: “Definitely my rebounding. I feel like I’m rebounding offensively way better. Also probably my handle.”
PH: What’s your role for this team?
AS: “Just a leader. Keeping the team together. Making sure we play together.”
PH: How are your grades and test scores?
AS: “I have a 1300 SAT score with an 89 average.
PH: How is your recruitment going?
AS: “A lot of Ivy’s and Patriot League’s. Might do a prep year depending on how the season goes. This is just my second year on varsity. I don’t turn 18 until March 1, and have played just two years of organized summer ball. I feel like it would be good if I had another year to get my body and my game right.”
PH: What are your personal and team goals?
AS: “Short term, I want to win the IAC. Make states and win that. Get All-IAC, All-State, and possibly All-Met.”
