RCS Sports Season Opener: Standouts Pt. 3
RCS Sports Season Opener 2018 kicked off this past weekend November 10th at the M.O. Campbell Center in Houston, TX. A total of 7 games were slated and the field was loaded with talent at all levels. Lets finish off our standouts with the final 8 prospect that came to play in the last two games of the showcase.
Montavious Murphy 6’9 CF Sr. Concordia Lutheran– 4 star prospect is currently committed to Kansas State University. Montavious scored from all 3 levels. He had a total of 6 dunks in the game. His ability to space out the floor led him to open up the floor to score. He also was a glass cleaner. He altered every shot the he contested. Murphy was very dominate in this game. If there was an event MVP it would go to Murphy. He displayed a little bit of everything in his game. He showed that he’s not just a rebounder and put back king. He finished with 32 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assist, and 5 steals. PHTX100
Pierce Hellums 6’2 SG Sr. Concordia Lutheran – Pierce is 3 star prospect who is committed to Sam Houston State University. He was active defensively. Ran the point for his team as he is trying to transition more into that role for college. Normally a knock down shooter but couldn’t get the long ball to fall. He picked up his game in other areas. Found the right guy every time offensively. Set some great off ball screens also. Finished with 12 points and 3 steals. PHTX100
Evan Palmquist 6’4 SG Sr. Concordia Lutheran – Evan is a 2 star prospect, would be a good fit for a D2/D3/NAIA school. Evan can score the ball well from deep and mid-range. Plays good on the ball defense. Has active hands and good overall IQ. He also will get in the mix to rebound the ball. Finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assist, and 3 steals.
Kenneth Lofton Jr. 6’6 CF Jr. Port Arthur Memorial – Kenneth is a 2 star prospect, would be a great fit for a D2/D3 university. He has the build of a power forward, but can be utilized as a small forward also. Light on his feet defensively. Uses his body well in the post. Has great footwork in the post. Can stretch out the defense with perimeter shooting abilities. Soft touch around the rim, and has a nice handle on the ball. He finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
Amaree Abram 6’1 PG Fr. Port Arthur Memorial – Amaree is a 3 star prospect, that played great in his first Varsity basketball game. The freshman came out a little timid, but quickly progressed before halftime. He was a force from the perimeter knocking down three 3-pointers in a row. Which allowed him to then drive the lane and find open teammates. Has a quick dribble, and great lateral movement defensively. Finished with 22 points, 4 assist, and shot 5/7-3PT.
Kharee McDaniel 5’11 PG Sr. Klein Forest – Kharee is a 3 star prospect that is committed to Central Oklahoma University. Strong handle on the ball. Pull up game is crazy on this prospect, as he pulled up from mid-range and also the three pointer. He was anchored by his defense and also was active on the boards. He finished the game with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. PHTX100
Ja’Mare Redus 6’0 PG Sr. Eisenhower – Ja’Mare is a 3 star prospect that is committed to Texas Southern University. You name it Ja’Mare does it. Attacked the lane with aggression. Finished at a high rate in the lane despite the defender. Played hard nosed defense all game. Was active on the glass. Ja’Mare also knocked down a pair of three pointer. Super quick first step with great acceleration and ball handle speed. He finished the game with 34 points and had 3 steals and 6 rebounds. PHTX100
Dylan Hamilton 6’4 PG Jr. Klein Forest – Dylan is a 2 star prospect, a D3/NAIA prospect. He shot the ball very well from deep. Was active on defense playing the passing lanes. He has some springs on him as well. He gets after it on loose balls, dives onto the floor, and doesn’t give up for the 50/50 balls. He finished with 16 points.
