Prospect Upshot: Klein Forest vs Katy
Let’s recap some of the prospects of the game that I just attended. I attended the game between Klein Forest Eagles vs Katy Tigers. They played in the Katy Classic Tournament at Katy Taylor High School. The Eagles are ranked 14th in the state UIL 6A. Katy came to play and didn’t back down. Here is our takeaways from prospects that stood out.
Calvin Solomon 6’6 SF Sr. Klein Forest High School. Finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds. He was super active offensively and defensively. Ran the floor well and got after loose balls. He also had 3 blocks and 2 steals. He threw a couple of no look passes. He was attacking the lane aggressively. Super active on the boards. Played with a high motor from start to finish. Uses athleticism to get rebounds and shots a low percentage from the line.
Kharee McDaniel 5’11 PG Sr. Klein Forest High School. Finished with 11 points in the game. The University of Central Oklahoma signee played solid all night. He got into foul trouble early in the game. He continued to attack the rim and looked for the open man. He came away with 2 steals in the game also.
Dylan Hamilton 6’2 SG Jr. Klein Forest High School. Played solid all night long. He is a streaky catch and shoot 3-Point specialist. He was very active on defense and came away with 4 steals. Dove on the floor for 50/50 balls and tie-ups. Plays with a good motor. Missed a couple of bunnies.
Justus Mouton 6’3 WG Sr. Katy HS. Is having a strong senior season. He finished the game with 24 points. He took his man off the dribble and finished in the lane at a high rate. Has a quick Crossover to gain separation from his defender. He plays the point for his team and runs the offense set.
Steven Fontenette 6’5 SF Sr. Katy HS. His stock continues to rise. Here is a late bloomer. He finished well in the lane. Has a nice pull up jumper. Has a good back to the basket package. If he gets a consistent 3-point shot it will take his game to the next level. Finished with 18 points. He was very active on the glass. Brought in 14 rebounds (4-off,10-def). He is also a play initiator for his high school team, and brings the ball up the floor.
Kirby Aldridge 6’8 C Sr. Katy HS. Boxes out every time. Plays good help side defense. Has good hands. He finished with 6 points and 6 rebounds. His size was effective to alter shots.
