Prospect Upshot: Atascocita vs Klein Oak
Let’s recap some of the prospects of the game that I just attended. I’m not only giving a recap but also including their skill set and strengths. I attended the game between Atascocita Eagles vs Klein Oak Panthers. The eagles are on the brinks of being a state ranked team. Klein Oak gets back their star player from injury. Here is our takeaways from prospects that stood out.
Nick Gazelas 6’3 SG Sr. Atascocita
Played very poised during the game. Made good decisions on shot selections and when to drive. Catch and shoot is his strength. Also displayed a one dribble pull up. Played great in transition on both sides of the ball. He finished the game with 24 points shot 9/10 from the foul line.
Joe Rollins 6’0 PG Sr. Atascocita
Started off slow, but in the 2nd half he came out to play. Super active on defense coming away with 3 steals in the game. He was attacking the lane and engaging defenders to find the open teammate. Knocked down a big 3 when the game got tight. Finished with 13 points.
Trey Davenport 6’3 WF Jr. Atascocita
Though he stands 6’3 he plays the box well offensively. Also very active on the boards. He pulled down 8 rebounds. Lateral quickness to guard the 1-3 position. Finished well around the rim. Finished the game with 10 points.
Dylan Dawson 6’2 PG Jr. Atascocita
Dylan also known as “D2” couldn’t get the ball to fall, but was a factor in all other aspects. Super active on the defensive side of the ball coming away with 4 steals. Got his teammates involved and finished with 5 assist. He also took two charges. He guarded the best players on the floor the entire game. Finished with 7 points.
Tim Eldridge 6’3 PG Sr. Klein Oak
This was his first game back from ankle injury. Tim was blowing by his defender with ease. After first two minutes of the game. He was thrown into a double team every time he touched the ball. He split his defenders and tried to get his teammates involved. Finished with 15 points. Shot 3/6 from behind the arc. Grabbed 7 rebounds. Had 4 assist.
Shane Sorrels 5’10 PG Sr. Klein Oak
Started our playing great defense. His defense anchored his play the entire game. In the 2nd Half he began to put the ball in the hoop. Has a quick crossover that allowed him to put his defender out of place so that he could create for himself and his teammates. Finished with 14 points and shot 3/3 from behind the arc.
Aaron Scott 6’6 CF So. Klein Oak
This was the first time seeing this prospect play. Long frame with great wingspan. Uses his athleticism to rebound. Grabbed 9 rebounds. Also altered shots because of his length. Left the game with 2 block shots. Has the ability to stretch out the floor. He knocked down two 3-pointers and shot 2/3 from behind the arc. He finished with 6 points.
