Prospect Spotlight: Tyler Shirley (2021)
With great size and increasing ability, 6-foot-6 forward Tyler Shirley has begun to establish himself as a top prospect in the South.
Currently the Pebblebrook wing checks in a No. 12 in the Peach State’s 2021 prospect rankings. One high-major D1 program has already offered the versatile sophomore.
“The best thing I do is get to the rack and finish. And I’ve improved my jump-shot, so I can stretch my game out to the 3-point line now. My ball-handling is pretty good, so I can break down my defender and get to the rim and finish,” said Shirley, who’s diverse on both sides of the ball.
“I’ve been working on my defense lately, so I can get my feet faster, so I can guard one through five.”
This past spring and summer, Shirley played with Team Tuff, “My job was to guard the best player every game and the season went pretty well, I had a lot of other top prospects on my team,” said Shirley.
His sophomore season at Pebblebrook is now underway, Shirley is starting this season and eager to show out.
“On this team, I’m not one of the primary scorers, but I’m going to try and at least get about 12 points per game,” he said. “I’ll be the energy guy, and look to play defense really well.”
That high-major D1 offer came in this past summer from Mississippi State. Shirley reports additional interest from Georgia, Auburn and Ole Miss
“A big goal of mine is to get more offers and get more looks,” said Shirley. “And that’s really my biggest goal right now.”
