Prospect Spotlight: Michael Healy (2020)
Michael Healy was a prospect who caught our eye during last week’s scrimmage between Oakton and Stone Bridge. It turns out he also takes care of business off the court, where he has a 4.3 GPA. Healy discussed what type of role he will play at Stone Bridge this season.
“To get lots of rebounds. Try to get guys open who can shoot like Isaiah (Rhodes) and (Evan Buckley). Also to be destructive on defense and get steals.”
We saw during that scrimmage that Healy is an effort player who does rebound the ball well. At 6-foot-2, he is active on defense, and can shoot from 3. We asked him to evaluate the team performance afterward.
“We played well defensively. We got lots of rebounds. We probably beat them in that stat,” he began. “We just got tired and all of our shots were short. We need to get in better shape so we can hit those shots later in games.”
Catholic University has reportedly expressed interest in Healy, but we believe that list of schools will grow soon. Healy is truly a team player who will play with a lot of energy, and fill whatever role the team needs in order to be successful. What are his personal short and long-term goals?
“I’d like to make the all-district team. Long-term I’d like to play in college.”
