Prospect Spotlight: Joshua Osakwe (2019)
Joshua Osakwe, a class of 2019 guard from Colonial Forge, was one of the best unsigned seniors we saw at the South County Jamboree. Osakwe, who recently arrived in the states from Germany, is a versatile guard who can defend various positions, handle the ball, and create for his teammates. We caught up with the senior about his goals and much more.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
JO: “I would say I’m an all-around guard. I can play 1 to 5 for my team, but I would say my primary positions are the 1 and the 3.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your overall game?
JO: “I would say my ball-handling. People don’t realize how deceptive I am, and they doubt my speed, but when they try to guard me it’s difficult because I change speeds.”
PH: How are your grades right now?
JO: “I have a 3.6 GPA.”
PH: Who’s recruiting you right now?
JO: “I’m actually from Germany. I’ve only been here for a few months, and I met some D3 coaches during fall league so far.”
PH: What’s the most improved part of your game?
JO: “I’ve been working on my shot every day. I need to start taking more jump shots. I feel like that’s the most improved part of my game, and the part that I want to keep working on.”
PH: What are your short term goals?
JO: “I want to get into college and play there. Long term, I want to get a degree or play basketball professionally.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
JO: “My passing, scoring, defense. A little bit of everything.”
