Prospect Spotlight: Jalen Deloach (2020)
Formerly a Georgia high school standout, 6-foot 8 forward Jalen Deloach is now playing in South Carolina at Gray Collegiate Academy.
He’s working to develop into one of the South’s more versatile threats.
“I can shoot the ball really well, and stretch the floor. I think I’m an underrated passer, I can get my teammates the ball,” said Deloach.
This spring and summer, he was playing with Game Elite 16U, and later with the 15U squad.
“I came into the AAU season late, but I averaged a double-double when I did play,” Deloach said. “And I was working on ball-handling a lot and stuff like that.”
He played at Islands in Georgia his freshman and sophomore seasons, and then was planning on transferring to Johnson to play this season. But he didn’t get cleared to play, so he ended up at Gray Collegiate in South Carolina.
“It’s a big move, they play a national schedule and have great player and a great coach. I’m excited,” said Deloach.
“We play really well together and my role is going to be to rebound, shoot it, get my teammates the ball, and talk a lot.”
Right now, the multifaceted forward reports Rice and Georgia Tech as programs showing early interest in him. Deloach, though, has plenty of time for his recruitment to unfold.
“I want to go somewhere where I can mature as a man,” he said. “And I just want to get my degree.”
