Prospect Spotlight: Carter Svenson (2020)
The addition of Carter Svenson will give Coach Corey Stitzel two reliable options at the point guard position. Don’t be surprised to see Stone Bridge come out with a two-point guard lineup featuring Svenson at the 1 and Evan Buckley at the 2. Buckley was out during their recent scrimmage, so we didn’t get to see this, but the team still managed to execute at a high level. Svenson discussed his recruitment among other topics in the interview below.
PH: What do you think is the most improved aspect of your game?
CS: “I think I’ve gotten a lot better at shooting the ball, and becoming a better scorer. In the past I’ve kind of been a facilitator. Obviously I’ve still continued to be a facilitator, but I’ve gotten a lot better at shooting and attacking the basket as well.”
PH: How are your grades?
CS: “Good. I have a 3.9 and I’m taking a couple of AP’s.”
PH: Who is currently recruiting you?
CS: “I’ve heard from Hood, CNU, and Carnegie Mellon.”
PH: What type of feedback do you receive from college coaches?
CS: “Floor general stuff. Lead the team, but I gotta get stronger and improve my scoring.”
PH: What is your role going to be this season?
CS: “To continue to lead the team. Score a little more, especially when Evan (Buckley) comes back.”
PH: What are your goals?
CS: “I want to take my team to as far as we can get. Hopefully a state title. That’s really all I care about; just winning.
PH: What will need to happen in order for you to reach your goal?
CS: “We’ve gotta get more physical. Tighten up on the defensive side of the ball. On offense we can hit shots and execute. We just gotta get physical, rebound, and play defense.”
