Prospect Spotlight: 2020 Justin Williams
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA—As the 2018-19 approaches, the anticipation of the late-blooming prospect will come into play—and Justin Williams (JSerra Catholic) will be part of that discussion.
The 6-foot-3 junior has all the physical tools you can ask for in a point guard prospect. He has great size, good length, ideal speed and quickness–and not too mention an improved offensive skill set.
Williams does a nice job of advancing the ball in the open court, can get to the rim off the dribble and his paint finishing skills are improving. To take his game to another level he needs to continue to improve his jump shot out to the stripe as well as his half court point guard skills.
Williams is yet another point guard emerging in So Cal“My outside shot needs to get more consistent. That is a definite area I need to improve on,” claims Williams.
Williams, who transferred from Anaheim/Canyon and their outstanding coach Nate Harrison, will have all the opportunity to improve upon those particular skill sets, considering who he’ll be running with this coming season.
The Lions have loaded up with fellow transfer 6-foot-3 high-flying junior Ian Martinez (Cantwell Sacred Heart) and up-and-coming sophomore 6-foot-8 Paxton Burzell will have college coaches drooling with his stellar outside shooting and bouncy nature.
The Lions play in the highly competitve Trinity League and this will give Williams ample opportunity to put his improved skill work and savvy to good use—undoubtedly in front of a plethora of college coaches.
