Prospect Spotlight: 2020 Jahveon Madearis
CALABASSAS, CA—A new season and new destination for Jahvy Madearis, who has taken his blossoming point guard skill set to the Veritas Prep Academy. Last season Madearis was part of a lethal underclassmen backcourt when he teamed up with fellow 2020 recruit Ian Martinez at Cantwell Sacred Heart.
However, both have departed Cantwell Sacred Heart and are on their own respective paths.
Madearis is an up-and-coming point guard prospect who has ideal length, quick feet, and active hands. He plays at a relentless pace at both ends of the floor due to his competitive spirit.
He pushes the ball well in the open court and has the skill to attack the rim or hand out an assist to an open shooter. In the half court set he can knock down the 3-point shot and he’s getting better at moving without the ball.
Medearis has the physical tools and moxie to play at the college level.“I need to continue to improve my jump shot as well as my half court skills to play the point guard position at the next level,” explains Medearis.
Veritas Prep, under the guidance of George Zedan, has a line up that is quite potent offensively, inside-and-out. In the middle Zedan has the luxury of utilizing the post skills of 6-foot-8 junior Amar Brown (transfer from Damien) while on the perimeter there is the talented trio of the aforementioned Medearis, Mississippi State signee Iverson Molinar, as well as the multi-skilled Ismael Cruz (transfer from Fresno High School).
As the chemistry evolves under Zedan’s system, look for Medearis’ numbers to continue to improve as he catapults his game to another level—which will ultimately lead to more college interest heading forward.
