PREVIEW: Underrated Floor Generals
With the basketball season set to begin in a few weeks, Prep Hoops Kansas is taking a look at some of the top players across the state in a wide range of categories.
Today, we take a look at several players who were nominated as the state’s top floor generals.
Corey Anderson, 6’2, PG, 2019, Wichita Heights @CoGlizzy
Anderson can shoot it a little from the outside, has a nice mid-range game and can put the ball on the floor and finish around the rim. He is at his best in transition and playing in an uptempo game and is a good finisher on the break.
Blayne Baldwin, 6’3, G, 2019, Frontenac @btbaldwin25
Baldwin has terrific size for a guard and good athleticism. He can handle the ball and is at his best driving to the basket where he is an athletic finisher. He is long and rangy and has the ability to get in the passing lanes and disrupt things, quickly turning steals into layups in transition.
Kobe Campbell, 5’11, PG, 2020, Rose Hill @TheBeastKoby
Campbell is an all-around player capable of getting into the lane and finishing in traffic, gets to the free throw line, and can spot up and knock down 3-pointers. He takes pride in his defense and brings a lot of energy to the court as well.
Tai Johnson, 5’11, PG, 2020, Maize South @TAI_J0HNS0N
Johnson put together a strong summer running with the Missouri Flight and brings a strong all-around skill set to the floor. He is smooth off the dribble, can get to the basket and is a creative finisher in traffic.
Cavion Williams, 6’2, G, 2019, Wichita Heights. @cavionakapooder
Williams is slated to play this season at Wichita West after a strong summer running with River City Hoops. He brings a big motor and a competitive drive to the court.
