Preseason All-Mecklenburg County (Public)
The Charlotte area in North Carolina is one of the hotbeds for basketball in the southeast. Here is a look at the preseason All-Mecklenburg high school team.
Tristan Maxwell2020 G Tristan Maxwell (North Mecklenburg HS)-The son of former Houston Rocket star Vernon Maxwell is one of the top PG’s in the state and is on one of the best teams in the Charlotte area. Maxwell is smooth and composed at the guard spot and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands.
2019 W Patrick Williams (West Charlotte HS)-Williams committed to Florida State just over a month ago and will be leading The Lions of West Charlotte again this season. He is a player than can play multiple positions on the floor and can step out and shoot the ball from outside at 6-foot-8. He chose Florida State over a host of big time college programs. The Charlotte Hoops Challenge will pit Williams up against Cox Mill standout and Duke commit Wendell Moore over Thanksgiving.
2019 W Brice Williams (Hopewell HS)-Williams recently picked up an offer from Wake Forest and is starting to be more heavily recruited. He is a thin scoring wing that has the bloodline to play at the next level. His dad is the all-time leading scorer at Charlotte. He played this summer on Team Loaded 704. He is long and athletic and can shoot it well from outside.
2019 F Matt Smith (Independence HS)-The anchor for the defending NCHSAA 4-A state champions, Smith recently committed to Murray State. He sent the summer playing under Jeff McInnis and the Team Charlotte brand on the Under Armor circuit. He is a very strong academic student and is a solid front court player at the college level.
2021 W Chris Ford (North Mecklenburg HS)-Ford may be the most talented player to come out of North Meck over the past few years. He is a good size wing that can play the guard spot, he can get into the paint and finish, he is a good rebounder in his area and can shoot. He already has some D1 offers. He is a high academic player like Smith and is another great student athlete from North Meck. He has the ability to score from all spots on the floor, can get to the rim and finish, can attack off the dribble and can move well without the ball.
