Prep Spotlight: The Juniors
Jon Sanders – 5-11 Jr Southfield Christian:
An overlooked starter for Southfield Christian’s Class D state championship team, poised for a big bump in his role this season. Sanders can accelerated quickly and finish through contact. He can fill it up from the three-point line consistently and has above average ball handling skills.
Gage McGuire – 6-7 Jr Coldwater:
McGuire is a big and physical presence in the paint. He knows what he does well, and tries to do that often. He set hard screens works the pick and roll action to perfection. An efficient rebounder and will improve both defensively and on boards over the next two years.
Daniel Friday 6-4 – Jr Detroit U-D Jesuit:
A versatile and well-rounded player who brings a lot of tools to the court. His court vision and great passing skills puts teammates in a the best position to score. He’s a physical defender who is willing to put his body on the line. Overall, high court awareness on both ends could very well be his best trait.
Brandon Galvan – 5-9 Jr Hartford:
Galvan is the perfect floor general and controls tempo well. He takes good care of the ball and makes smart decisions. Galvan’s great court vision allows him some nice drive and kicks to shooters. He isn’t afraid to go among the bigs inside and get banged up. A grinder who knows how to hustle on both ends of the floor.
Caleb Hunter – 5-10 Jr Southfield Christian: Hunter has a quick handle and penetrates with ease. His ability to create his own shots and finish inside is a skill that larger defenders often overlook. There is no better ISO player in Class D. He is a stat filler. Defensively, he can lock down longer players and moves nicely in transition.
