Post Graduate Prospect Report (Part I)
Each year we see many Texas unsigned seniors reclassify and sign their letter of intents with a post graduate school. Prospects do this to save a year of collegiate eligibility and to improve their stock. In this article, Brandon Jenkins highlights a few of the top post graduate Texas natives who graduated high school in 2018. The names listed are prospects NCAA Division I schools should take a hard look at:
Josh Davis / 6’3″ / SG / The Knox School (St. James, NY) / Level: Low Major
Josh is an aggressive slasher who is capable of scoring on all three levels. The wiry strong guard is at his best when attacking the basket. He was a starting combo guard on the TAPPS 6A State Champion Tomball Concordia Lutheran Crusaders. Josh currently holds an offer from Boston University.
Michael Jankovich / 6’5″ / SG / Northfield Mount Hermon (Mount Hermon, MA) / Level: Mid-High Major Minus
Mike is a knock down shooter that has improved as an outside scorer off the bounce. He can potentially be a secondary ball handler at the next level. The former Dallas Jesuit Ranger has great size, a sweet stroke, and is a willing passer.
Brenton Mills / 6’2″ / SG / Phillips Academy Andover (Andover, MA) / Level: Low Major
Brenton is an athletic, rangy guard who is a quiet but productive scorer. He is a strong finisher in the paint and can step out hit the catch and shoot three. He was a starting guard on the 2018 State Champion Allen Eagles team and is very coachable. Brenton currently holds offers from Boston University, Bryant University, Binghamton, Bucknell and Robert Morris.
Jourdan Smith / 6’7″ / SF / Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, KS) / Level: Mid-High Major
The lefty wing might be the best prospect on this list. He is a smooth swingman with a lengthy body that can handle the ball, slash to the basket, and can hit the mid range pull-up jumper. Baylor, CSU-Bakersfield, Central Connecticut State, Houston, Indiana State, and Northwestern State are currently interested in the three-star forward. Alabama-Birmingham, Denver, Georgia Southern, IUPUI, Oklahoma, SMU, and Stephen F. Austin have already offered.
Taveion White / 6’8″ / PF / PHS Academy (Tampa, FL) / Level: Low Major
White is an explosive leaper in the paint. He dunks everything possible when given the chance. White has a lengthy body that he uses offensively to extend and finish above the rim. He uses his length defensively to alter and swat shots. The former Prosper Eagle standout is extremely raw offensively in how he scores off putbacks and dump-off passes. White was offered by McNeese State last year and has been offered by IUPUI and USC Upstate this year.
