PHI Freshman Showcase: Team 7 Breakdown
The last bit of the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase is coming out over the next few days as we finish up our evaluations for the event. Today, we are looking at Team 7 and those players full breakdowns.
#29 Branden Northern
5’10 PG Silver Creek (IN)
Braden is a solid lead guard with good speed and handles. Not fancy but takes care of the ball and puts guys in a position to get a shot off. Should grow a bit and have a chance to develop more skills. Shot the ball well and could have a little more offense in a traditional setting.
#64 Paul Stubblefield
6’2 SF Brebeuf Jesuit (IN)
Paul is a tall guard with some handles and big ability. He has some length and can impact the game in the post and on the perimeter a bit, showing some range at times. Will need to sure up the handles and could be a much more effective driving off-guard.
#77 Tayven Jackson
6’3 SG Center Grove (IN)
Tayven is a long, athletic guard who can really launch it from deep. A little aggressive and flashy but productive not only scoring the ball but defensively and on the boards. Thought he played tough and has a ton of skill that still has to develop. Could grow a little bit still but more of a 2/3.
#87 Matt Spears
6’4 SF Indianapolis Pike (IN)
Spears is a long, lanky wing with a ton of upside but really raw right now. Was good in space but ball handling will need to develop a bit. Has athleticism and speed where he can play better in transition right now but any growth could really separate him at his position.
#92 Jeffrey Simmons
6’5 PF Fishers (IN)
Simmons is a big, bruising post who likes to throw his body around in the post. Was really good rebounding the ball outside of his area and finding offense off the boards. Was even better faced up where he could shoot in the mid-range just a touch. Could be one of the more productive bigs in the class.
#7 Drew Adzia
5’8 PG Crown Point (IN)
Drew is a small guard who played well at times, driving the ball and doing more setting up shooters. Thought he handled pressure well and should stay on the ball. Just smaller right now and will have to find more ways to score. Jumper was solid and didn’t push the ball too much. Could develop shot pretty quickly.
#17 Kobe Stoudemire
5’7 PG Jeffersonville (IN)
Kobe is a small guard but he plays as tough and as quick as anyone right now. Like his ability to get into the lane and finish with toughness at the rim. Knows how to finish as a smaller guard. Jumper is solid, will need a little more touch but could really develop quickly. Very shifty in the lane and deceptive.
#47 Caden Harker
6’1 SG Twin Lakes (IN)
Caden is a tall guard with good frame and build already. Was better when he got the ball in the lane. Showed a solid jumper but release looked a bit quick. Love his size and how comfortable he was on the wing. Could turn out to be a versatile defender that has a lot more offense to draw out.
#57 Lawrence Pierce
6’2 SF University (IN)
Lawrence is a big wing with good handles and scoring ability. Plays bigger than he looks and has a really good balance right now between perimeter jumpers and driving attacks. Was great in transition and with the ball in his hands, he makes great decisions. Great length and frame that could still grow a bit.
#67 Eli Crites
6’3 PF White River Valley (IN)
Crites is a solid forward prospect that has some good height and length and is definitely going to grow quite a bit. Played faced up a little but looked more comfortable in the low post. Needs to add some strength but the frame can hold a lot more. Finished well around the rim, just needs that strength to finish more consistently.
