Notebook: Locals Waiting To Step Up
The high school season is now two weeks away and for the foreseeable future, Tuesday will be our day for the recruiting recap each week. Also, two weeks out mean some more prospects came off the board and some teams are putting out some last minute offers. Here is the latest.
Leal Picks Up Another Big Ten Offer, Still Waiting On Indiana
As there are with most anything, there are nuances to recruiting. However, Indiana is getting some pressure putting on them.
2020 guard Anthony Leal has really taken off in the last year and now in the last few weeks he has picked up a pair of offers, one from Iowa and another from Maryland, that are now real competition.
At some point, Indiana, and to a lesser extent Purdue, will have to take a bigger look into the 6’5 scorer. Both teams have offers out to guys not only in-state but basically his position. It stands to reason that either school could offer soon.
Fishers Guard Jackson Finally Gets On The Board
A player that has been slowly improving over the last few months, more so than many others, has been that of Fishers (IN) guard Willie Jackson.
The 6’0 guard hasn’t really ever been bad but it has been more about coming out of his shell. He’s shown himself to be much more aggressive and looking to make plays and not just be a part of the play. He’s a big, physical guard that can play on or off the ball. If he can put that production into effect in the season, he will add more offers to his resume.
Right now, he’s starting to gain more legit interest as Rose-Hulman and Goshen College have both offers him a spot on their team. Could be a kid that finds more interest and picks up a higher level of offer this season.
