Nathan Lauer (2020): An Interview
Nathan Lauer is a critical newcomer to an already loaded Grand Rapids Angels squad. He is a combo guard from the class of 2020. Lauer is a talented prospect that has a reputation as a marksman from deep. I recently caught up with Nathan Lauer to talk about his game, this season, and more.
Question:
What is the biggest strength of your game?
Nathan Lauer:
The biggest strength of my game would have to be my pull up jumper off the dribble, and my ability to utilize my quickness to penetrate and kick the ball out to my teammates for an easy jumper.
Question:
How have you been preparing for this season?
Nathan Lauer:
I have been working on my nutrition, overall body strength and agility 3 days a week at Power Strength Training in Grand Rapids and individual skill training with Duane Washington. We have been working on my ability to stay low and change direction fast, along with a smoother one piece jumpshot.
Question:
What goals do you have for this season?
Nathan Lauer:
This season I plan to help lead my team to win the National Championship. I plan on taking my game to the next level and earn a chance to play in college and gain a great education.
Question:
Is there a game on your teams schedule that you are looking forward to?
Nathan Lauer:
A game I am looking forward to is playing against Mattawan High School. I look forward to this game because I will be playing against my former teammates from AAU with Michigan Basketball Academy. I also am planning on leaving a mark with my team and winning the game.
Question:
What is your best basketball memory so
far?
Nathan Lauer:
My favorite basketball memory so far is as a sophomore starting my first varsity game of the season with four seniors. My brother was one of those seniors and I hit the winning basket and free throw to seal the win! I’ll always cherish playing with my older brother.
Question:
Who is the toughest player you’ve ever matched up with?
Nathan Lauer:
I have matched up against a lot of tough players in AAU but my brother Nick Lauer and
Jesse Hillis( Aquinas) made me tougher in practice.
Question:
What aspect of your game would you tell a college coach thats interested in you to watch?
Nathan Lauer:
Overall athleticism on both ends of the floor and a desire to learn and get better.
Question:
What is your favorite subject at school and why?
Nathan Lauer:
My favorite subject in school is probably Wood Fabrication or Mechanics. I have always enjoyed building things and working on my car. I recently installed all new brakes and rotors on my Taurus.
