Most Likely to have a Break-out Season: 2020
The first high school games of the season are about two weeks away! This season should be very excited as Arizona is full of high level talent at all levels. Here is my predictions of the players who will have break out seasons this year:
Dominic Gonzalez 6’3 G (Ironwood):
Gonzalez is a player who is not talked about nearly enough. He is an elite score, maybe one of the best all around scorer’s in the class of 2020. He has the ability to score the ball from deep, mid-range, and attacking the basket. Gonzalez has generated some college interest but I think that interest turns into offers by the end of the season. Gonzalez is set for a break out season.
Evan Nelson 6’1 G (Salpointe):
Evan Nelson is one of the most talked about players in the state and it is well deserved. He has a very high basketball IQ, is super athletic, and can shoot the lights out. However, I think this is just the tip of the iceberg with Evan Nelson. I think he comes back bigger and better than ever this season. He put up some solid numbers despite having to sit out most of the season. I am very intrigued to see what Nelson can do with a full season.
Anthony Garza 6’7 F (Shadow Ridge):
Anthony Garza has really shown me how hard he is willing to work and how much more room he has to grow as a basketball player. He is a hard worker and I believe in his potential. I think this is the season that his potential and actual skill set coincide with each other. Look for Anthony Garza to have a break out season.
Andre Harris 6’7 F (Hillcrest Prep):
Dre Harris recently announced that he will be playing with Hillcrest Prep and I think that is a great move that will lead to maximum exposure for him. With all of the media attention that Hillcrest Prep draws in, mixed with Dre’s incredible skill set, he will be prime for a break out season that earns him some big time offers.
