Monte Vista High SchoolTeam Preview
Monte Vista 2018-2019
Monte Vista High School who is in the East Bay League and finished in 3rd place. Finishing a good year at 18-11 and finishing up in league at 9-4 the Monte Vista Mustangs have a solid group of senior players returning to lead the way.
Here are some of the Mustangs key players to have a successful year.
Kris Bortz 6-8 Senior post, who is a great rebounder and has great vision when in the post and is also an excellent passer out of the post. He is a 4 year varsity player so that bring the experience alone on the floor and on the bench. He can score off the block going over both shoulders, and has improved ball handling coming down hill and conditioning in the off-season. Looking for a break out senior season for the Mustangs
Trent Stechschulte– 5-11 senior guard, who is a quick, left handed guard who is very exposlive coming down hill and on the break. He has a very good pull up jump shot which helps his team when points are needed. Also being a good on ball defender he disrupts the other teams guards and becomes a pest.
Nate Rutchena-Who is also a football player, is a 6-3 junior versatile guard. With great size he also has a great handle on him that helps him get by any defender. Also because of his size and great handle he is also a very good passer looking over defenses and finding the open man.He can guard any position on the floor and can finish at the rim.
Matt Musselman– 5-9 senior guard. He is a very scrappy and tough player, very pesky on ball defender, great penetrator from perimeter.
The Monte Vista Mustangs will start their 2018-2019 season at the “Opening Tip Off Marathon” against Franklin Wildcats.
A tournament preview will be out before tip off.
