Malensek Commits to Truman State
Monday marked the first day of practice in preparation of the 2018-19 season. It will also go down as the day Gage Malensek came off the board.
The Brookfield Central class of 2019 point guard committed to Division 2 Truman State, opting to play for head coach Jeff Horner and the Bulldogs.
“I wanted to finish my college decision so I could have 100 percent focus on the high school season,” Malensek told Prep Hoops Wisconsin. “There was an overall family feeling you get with the coaches, players, and students around the school.”
Malensek also held a Division 1 offer from Idaho State and a Division 2 offer from Wayne State. The 6-foot senior is the second known verbal commitment for Truman State in the 2019 class.
“They were very excited,” Malensek said. “I like the coaching staff a lot. I love the campus and the fit of everything.”
Malensek is the state’s sixth ranked prospect in the class of 2019. As a junior, Malensek led the Lancers in scoring at 20.1 ppg to go along with 2.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
Led by Malensek, Cole Nau, and David Joplin, Brookfield Central enters 2018-19 as one of the favorites in Division 1.
