1) St. Thomas More (0-0)
St. Thomas More has yet to play a game so far this season, but they are the defending state champs in Division II. Until someone comes along and takes their crown, St. Thomas More will stay at the top. The bad news for the Cougars is that they lost a lot of talent off of last season’s squad. The good news is so did everyone else in Div. II.
2) U-High (4-0)
U-High is another team that has lost a lot of talent off of last year’s team, but they have still managed to stay afloat this season. They are going to miss the presence that Eric Reed brought to the table, but after watching him this summer, I think 2020 G Milan Mejia is ready to take a big step forward. Coach Joe Spencer is always going to have his teams prepared, and they look to be in contention for yet another state title.
3) Lusher Charter (3-1)
While everyone else in Div. II is losing talent, Lusher really brings back a lot of the same pieces that they took to the semi-finals last season. I expect them to take another step forward, and elevate to real contender status this season, something that they were never really capable of doing last season.
4) Loyola (5-1)
I will be honest, I didn’t have super high expectations for Loyola Prep coming into this season, but they have already proven that they need to be taken seriously in the Division II race. They are lead on the wing by senior Devan Melancon, who if you leave him alone, his shot is absolutely money.
5) De La Salle (3-2)
This is going to be a bit of a rebuilding year for De La Salle after two straight trips to the Final Four. There is still a lot of talent walking the halls for the Cavaliers, but I think it will take a year for them to really put things together. After dropping their first two of the season, De La Salle is back to his winning ways, and has one three straight.
