Louisiana 4A Top 5 UPDATE
New Rank | Prev Rank | Team | Record |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 1 | Bossier | 21-3 |
2 | NR | Breaux Bridge | 22-3 |
3 | 3 | Woodlawn-Shreve | 20-5 |
4 | NR | Leesville | 21-3 |
5 | 2 | Carencro | 15-8 |
1) Bossier (4-0)
Coming into this year, I thought Bossier was not only the best team in 4A, they might be a top 5 team in the state regardless of class. And so far, they are definitely proving me right. Not only are they one of the most talented teams in the state, their strengths of each individual player compliments each other so well. They have a handful of guys that are good enough to win games by themselves, and when they all play well, they will be tough to stop.
2) Carencro (3-0)
The Golden Bears have lost a lot of talent from last year’s team, but they are still the defending champions in 4A and have let to lose so far this year. It also looks like 2021 F Joe Charles has turned a corner on the offensive end, and is living up to his nearly limitless potential. As long as Charles is playing well, Carencro is going to be a tough team to beat all season long.
3) Woodlawn-Shreve (4-0)
The other team in last year’s 4A state title game has also yet to lose a game so far this season. Woodlawn returns a lot off of last year’s team, most importantly 2019 PG Tra’Michael Moton, who has the potential to single handedly win Woodlawn some games. Add in some pretty talented players around him, and Woodlawn is going to be a tough out yet again this season.
4) Lakeshore (7-0)
Lakeshore not only has the most wins of any 4A school so far this season, they also have the most talented player in 4A, Hunter Dean. There might not be a ton of talent surrounding Dean, but he is going to be good enough to win Lakeshore a lot of games this year. At 6’9, he can be a total gamechanger on both ends of the floor, and he definitely has the talent and skills to be a matchup nightmare.
5) Huntington (4-0)
Huntington is the 3rd team in the top 5 to come out of the Shreveport area, and the 3rd team in the top 5 to play in District 1-4A. They are another team that really compliments each other from top to bottom. With the size that they possess, teams are going to have a tough time scoring in the paint all season, and their guards are good enough to get buckets when a bucket is needed.
