Kimball Big Monday Showcase (Part I) Universal Academy is Loaded with Talent
Arthur Kaluma / 6’7 / SF / Universal Academy / 2021
Kaluma is getting better every time I watch him. Against Nolan Catholic High School, Arthur displayed the ability to go coast to coast with the ball in his hands and finish above the rim in traffic. He has a mixture of athleticism and skill which makes him very intriguing as a perimeter player.
Jaylin Posey / 6’2” / PG / Universal Academy 2020
Jaylin has everything you want in a guard. He has good ball handling ability, makes good decisions, plays with a good tempo, can shoot it and plays well defensively. Posey is more of a scoring guard at this point in time but he still tries to find his teammates at times. Posey has a lot of upside and a chance to crack the national rankings soon if he keeps progressing the way he is.
Jaquan Scott / 6’8” / PF / Universal / 2020
Scott has long arms and good athletic ability that causes college coaches to salivate when thinking about what he can potentially become if he keeps improving. Scott has a nice midrange and a solid face up game. He also has a solid back to the basket game but needs to work on becoming more physical down low and exposing his mismatch more on the block. Jaquan is one that I am keeping a close eye on for the next couple of months.
Howard Turner / 5’11” / PG / Universal / 2019
Howard is a tough on the ball defender that is a valuable player to have on your team because he guards well and can also shoot it efficiently behind the 3 point line. College Coaches that need a gritty defender that can knock down open shots, should take a look at this kid.
Jimel Cofer / Pg / 6’2” / Universal / 2021
Cofer has solid handles and knows how to get on your hip and blow past you if you’re too close. He has good vision and can find his teammates when he’s penetrating. Cofer has a chance to be a really good player if he puts it all together.
Connor Redrow / 6’11” / C / Universal / 2021
Redrow is becoming a top 5 big man in the state for his class. Redrow has shown some toughness down low and the ability to rebound on both ends. He is still a bit raw offensively but will continue to progress especially under the tutelage of Coach Woody(Head Coach of Universal Academy), who is known for developing big men.
