Intro: Chad Readey (2021)
Homewood Flossmoor 2021 post Chad Readey put on a clinic at the Christopher Spartz Fall Showcase! After not seeing him play since the spring he proved to be one of the best post prospects in the 2021 class. Broad shouldered four man with strength in his upper body and moves very well for his size. Plus rebounder snatching the ball out of the air. He got several put backs. His skill level was very impressive. Used hook shots with both hands. Knocked down shots in the pick and pop game. Even put it on the deck some off shot fakes. Finished at a high clip around the hoop throughout. Potential as an anchor on the defensive end. Could not have been more impressed with his play!
How is it going preparing for the upcoming season?
“We have beaten some pretty good teams in the fall league. We are looking to improve to beat the teams that we haven’t beat.”
Readey discussed the progression in his body and game.
“We weight lift a lot in the fall. I was really skinny last year. My frame just naturally increased. I have been working on my outside shot and improving my game.”
What does he see as his role for HF this season?
“We have Isaac (Stanback) and Marion (Scott) who are both good at attacking the basket. While it is my job to rebound and play big. It is also my job to spot up when the defense crashes.”
He broke down the strengths of his game.
“I feel my strength is inside. I have a nice left hand that I have been working on since I was nine. I want to improve my shooting and be able to play everywhere on the floor.”
Anything going on with his early recruitment?
“UIC and Northern Illinois have shown some minor interest and invited me to their select camps.”
Readey is also a big time pitching prospect in baseball.
