Dakota Valley has been one of the toughest teams to play in the past couple of years.

They went 17-6 through the regular season last year and made the state tournament once again. They lose a couple of great seniors but return Charlie Cox and Paul Bruns.

Let’s go inside the numbers and look at the 2017-18 Dakota Valley Panthers:

The Panthers averaged just over 66 points a game during the season. They had four players average double figures in Charlie Cox (11.6), Jack Graves (10.7), Jack Mccabe (13.9), Paul Bruns (11). Cox and Bruns are the two top returners for the Panthers this season.

Dakota Valley shot 46 percent from the field throughout the season. They connected on 152-of-411 three-pointers on the season and shot 74 percent from the free throw line. Definitely one of the higher volume scoring teams in Class A last year.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Panthers were tough. The forced the opponent to 19 charges on the season and had 6.9 steals per game.

Of their 743 total rebounds, Dakota Valley had 500 defensive rebounds not allowing the opposing team to grab a lot of offensive rebounds.

The Panthers gathered in 37.67 rebounds a game throughout the state tournament which was tied for fourth place in Rapid City.

The Panthers start their 2018-19 season at Tea Area on December 8th.
