Illinois Top 50 Prospects Regardless of Class: #6-#10
In September we released our rankings for the classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021. What if you took those classes and did an overall ranking regardless of class? This is what they would look like! This is our Illinois Top 50 Prospects Regardless of Class!
Today we unveil prospects #6 – #10!
#6 Markese Jacobs (Uplift – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: #5
This Uplift point guard who is committed to DePaul is an explosive and compact lead guard that can really put it in the hoop. Jacobs is at his best as a scorer using his speed and athleticism to get downhill where he is an outstanding layup maker in the paint. Pushes with his quickness in transition and can finish above the rim with the best of them. Classic tough Chicago guard!
#7 Tyler Beard (Whitney Young – 2020)
Last Year’s Rank: #22
Beard sat out a big portion of the high school season and then took his game to new heights during the spring and summer. At the prestigious Nike Elite 100 Camp, Beard was one of the best guards in attendance. He is an attacking guard that gets downhill and finishes well through traffic. Mid-range jumper has potential and he is improving as a passer.
#8 Ahamad Bynum (Simeon – 2021)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Bynum is one of the premier prospects in the 2021 class and he proved that once again in July. The Simeon guard is a power wing that can really score it. We saw him several times with the Mac Irvin Fire 15U where he went off scoring at will. Next step in development will be rounding out his game. Has potential to be an above average rebounder and defender.
#9 Dajuan Gordon (Curie – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: #39
The progression of Gordon continued over the last year is impressive. He burst on the scene with a couple big performances a couple summers ago and followed that up as a complimentary player for Curie this year. Had a few big games, but not consistent. We were so impressed with how well he played with Team Rose. The long and rangy wing is a lethal scorer that shoots it well from all levels and has smooth acceleration getting to the rim. Headed to Kansas State.
#10 Isaiah Rivera (Geneseo – 2020)
Last Year’s Rank: #24
Rivera is a highly skilled wing with an excellent basketball IQ. He has an advanced understanding of the game and lets the game come to him. Quality shooter with a feather shot from mid-range and three. Passes it well and is a sound wing rebounder. Should post big numbers this season!
