Illinois Top 50 Prospects Regardless of Class: #26-#30
In September we released our rankings for the classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021. What if you took those classes and did an overall ranking regardless of class? This is what they would look like! This is our Illinois Top 50 Prospects Regardless of Class!
Today we unveil prospects #26 – #30!
#26 Ray J Dennis (Oswego East – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Dennis is a Boise State commit in the senior class that emerged with his play during the spring and summer. We heard some buzz about him late in the high school season, but his momentum really picked up with his play during the spring and summer on the circuit. Dennis is a smooth lead guard with size that can shoot the basketball adequately from both mid-range and three. Works well around ball screens and has a nice feel for the game.
#27 Jeremiah Hernandez (St. Viator – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
This Kent State commit is a wing that has a high basketball IQ. Excellent passer at his size almost in the mold of a point-forward. Playmaker with the rock in his hands. Handles well weaving in and out of traffic. Also is a very good jump shooter getting elevation off the floor on his shot. Primed for a monster senior campaign.
#28 Evan Taylor (Glenbard West – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Taylor is a future Southern Illinois Saluki who is another point-forward type. This lefty has excellent size for position. His biggest asset is definitely his ability to pass the ball. Electric vision and decision maker with the ball in his hands. Can take the ball off the defensive glass, push it up the floor, and either score or find a teammate. Impact player in the MVC down the line.
#29 Tevin Smith (Danville – 2021)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Smith is one of the top prospects regardless of class in the central part of the state. The uber athletic and strong wing plays above the rim with his monster dunks. Scoring wing that can put up buckets in a hurry! With the graduation of Kendle Moore we should see Smith thrive as a sophomore this year being one of Danville’s primary scoring options!
#30 John Poulakidas (Neuqua Valley – 2021)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
This small forward broke out on our radar late in the spring and that continued with his play at the PrepHoops Top 250 Camp. Long and angular forward that gets to the hoop with his long strides and can bomb in threes from deep with his clean looking jump shot. Handles well in the open floor being able to take it coast to coast.
