Georgetown Kraft Credit Union Tourney
Prep Hoops took in the action yesterday at the Georgetown Kraft Credit Union Tourney. The event features 7 teams with one team dropping out late last week. Checkout the game results last evening right here in this article.
Waccamaw HS played Johnsonville HS in the opener last night and walked away with a 59-45 victory. The Warriors were led in scoring by Carrele Cooper (2020) with 22 points and Tyree Funnye (2020) 19 points. Cooper transferred into Waccamaw HS this past fall from Georgetown County rival Andrews HS.
Quez Lewis (2021) a jet quick point guard for the Johnsonville HS Flashes led the way with 14 points in the defeat. The Flashes fall to (0-2) on the season under longtime Head Coach Harris Avant.
Game 2 of the evening saw the C.E. Murray HS War Eagles defeat Philip Simmons 72-64 in overtime. The War Eagles were led in scoring in Henry Evans (2023) 20 points, DeAndre Wilson 16 points and Sheldon Bradley (2021) 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Antonio Leake (2020) and Jaylen Green (2020) led the Philip Simmons Iron Horses in scoring 22 points and 12 points respectively. .
The final game of the featured the Conway HS Tigers defeating the Georgetown HS Bulldogs 54-44. The Tigers were led by Timothy Steele (2020) with 14 points and Tonka Hemingway (2020) chipped in with 11 points. The Tigers (2-0) advance to the championship game to play Socastee HS.
Darrell Gardner (2020) kept the Bulldogs close with 18 points. Georgetown HS will face Johnsonville HS in the 3rd place this evening from the Georgetown Kraft Credit Union Tourney.
** Socastee HS has already won 2 games in the tourney over Johnsonville HS and Waccamaw HS. The Braves feature a talented team with Kassius “Jay” Williams, Jevon Griffin, Marcus Moore, Jonathan Wright, Payton Lewis and JJ Jones. The Braves and the Conway HS Tigers both Horry County Rivals will play at 7:30 this evening in the Championship Game.
