GE8TOC Standouts Part 3
Powder Springs, Georgia – The 3rd annual Georgia Elite 8 Tip Off Classic tipped off Saturday and what a great slay of games it gave us. The 2018 GE8TOC was filled with great games from start to finish, including two games that went into overtime, and the finale between Anthony Edwards and Holy Spirit against Okoro, Cooper, and McEachern. There was talent displayed all over the floor all day long and below I have listed my standouts from the loaded event.
Note: Part 3 of 4
2022 PG Dillon Hunter – Westlake High School
Dillon Hunter, younger brohter of Clemson commit Chase Hunter, made his high school debut at Saturday’s GE8TOC. The freshman point guard has had a lot of buzz coming into high school and what better way to start a high school career than at the hostile enviroment that was held at McEachern High School during the event. The 6-foot-3 freshman had a solid high school debut after finishing the game with 11 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds and also coming on top with the win over St. Francis. Dillon showed why he was one of the best 2022 prospects in the nation on Saturday. He is a poised type of guard who sees the floor extremely well. He is fast in the open floor and read the defense well. Not too bad of a performance for a freshman in his first high school match.
2019 W Stanley Eze – Mount Bethel
The Mount Bethel-The Heritage School matchup bought us a battle between two of Georgia’s best bigs in the 2020 class in Jordan Meka (Mount Bethel) and Ebenezer Dowouna (Heritage), but the basketball gods had other plans. Another one of Georgia’s underrated prospect in Stanley Eze dropped 29 points in Saturday’s contest against The Heritage School. Stanley showed up to play in this one. He is what you call an elite defender with a great IQ on the offensive end. He sits at 6-foot-5 with extremely long arms and those arms helped him grab a few steals towards the end of the game. Stanley deserves some looks and should as the high school season goes along.
2020 PG Dwon Odom (Xavier) – St. Francis
The matchup between two of Georgia’s most athletic and explosive players in Chase Hunter verse Dwon Odom did not disappoint. The game came down to the wire and with Westlake coming out on top. Xavier commit Dwon Odom’s 29 point performance was not enough to get past Westlake in his season opener. Dwon is coming off a summer where he turned a few scouts heads with his athletic playmaking ability. The junior point guard will always “wow” you when he steps on the floor. Odom holds great body control when attacking the rim and he has a great finishing ability.
2019 G Chase Hunter (Clemson) – Westlake High School
Clemson commit Chase Hunter started off pretty slow for Westlake at the start of their match against St. Francis but came into the zone in the second half. The senior guard finished with 17 points and 6 rebounds in his first ever last high school game. Chase has came a long way with his improvement on the floor and is now a 2018-2019 preseason Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year nominee. He is a tremondous athlete and can get going in a blink of an eye like he did on Saturday. Chase is expected to have big season and will be looking to close out his high school career on a bang.
