GE8TOC Standouts Part 2
Powder Springs, Georgia – The 3rd annual Georgia Elite 8 Tip Off Classic tipped off Saturday and what a great slay of games it gave us. The 2018 GE8TOC was filled with great games from start to finish, including two games that went into overtime, and the finale between Anthony Edwards and Holy Spirit against Okoro, Cooper, and McEachern. There was talent displayed all over the floor all day long and below I have listed my standouts from the loaded event.
Note: Part 2 of 4
2019 PG Lance Terry (Gardner-Webb) – The Heritage School
Besides Anthony Edwards, I do not think anyone had a better performance then Gardner-Webb commit Lance Terry, who coincidentally played with Anthony Edwards with Atlanta Xpress in the UAA this past summer. The senior point guard dropped a fantastic 30 points to lead The Heritage School in overtime past a well coached Mount Bethel squad. Gardner-Webb got a steal in Mr. Terry. He is a great defender and will bring you that energy and hustle to the floor. He is a strong guard and who put his shooting skills on display on Saturday by knocking down four three pointers. Lance was one of Georgia’s most under the radar prospects and he gave us a show in his senior campaign debut.
2019 SG Damian Dunn (Temple) – Meadowcreek High School
The senior two-guard Damian Dunn was making his “welcome to Georgia” debut this past Saturday and he certainly felt right at home. Dunn transferred to Meadowcreek this past summer after playing his high school ball in North Carolina the last three years. He is an elite scorer when he is on the floor and especially in the half court. Dunn felt very comfortable in the Meadowcreek system offensively and it showed after dropping 26 points in their win over powerhouse Wheeler. The Temple commit is a smooth operator and his jump shot is so pure. He is able to get his shot off on or off the dribble and create space to get his jumper off as well. Meadowcreek is in good hands and Dunn will be looking to bring them back another state title.
2019 PG Jarie Eastmond (Denver) – Wheeler High School
Recent Denver commit Jaire Eastmond impressed me not with his offense or scoring but just the way he handles himself on the floor as a 6-foot and under point guard. Without question, Roscoe is the tone setter and floor general for this Wheeler team this year. The matchup between him and UAB commit 2019 point guard Jalen Benjamin (Meadowcreek) was one to keep an eye on in this one. Eastmond showed why he is one of the best on ball defenders and was able to snag 4 steals at Saturday’s event.
2019 G Emmanuel Collier – Meadowcreek High School
There were a plethora of great shooters on display at the 2018 Georgia Elite 8 Tip Off Classic and Emmanuel Collier was one of the top two. The senior guard was scorching the nets in their win over Wheeler, knocking down five threes and finishing with 17 total points. The Mustangs will certainly need Emmanuel down the stretch of the season if they are looking to be back-to-back GHSA class 7A state champions.
