Flight Jamboree Preview: Part 2
Douglas Byrd HS: The Eagles are under new guidance with first year head coach, Coach Cobb taking the lead. 2019 PG Alijah Miles has transferred in and should see a good amount of time at the PG spot, while 2019 Forward Capre Crawford, who was one of the leading scorers on the squad last year should be back and have a big time season.
South Brunswick HS: If you’re a UNCP fan, you will want to drop in and see this team play as their starting Forward Jace McKinney has already committed verbally. Jace is a player that is a high flyer that plays with a good amount of intensity and has a chance to be really good as long as he stays locked in.
Freedom Christian: The Patriots will look like a completely team as they have had quite a few players transfer out and new ones transfer in. Two players that are returning are 2019 Wing Brandon Murray and 2020 Guard Manrique Alvarado, both who have seen major minutes for this squad. Look for the new transfers such as 2019 Guard Thomas Miles to play a role for this team, it may take some time but their new look and coaching staff has a chance to be special.
Fayetteville Academy: Depth is one area that this team may be concerned but as their top 5/6 guys can matchup with a high amount of teams in the state. 2019 PG John Wright & 2019 F/C Emmanuel Izunabor are both players that have already picked up D1 offers and will be looked upon to lead the team. The Eagles also have some really nice talent in 2021 Guard Walter Ghaffar who is beginning to come into his own.
Grays Creek: There is a lot to like about this group, they are very experienced with a high group of upper classmen. 2019 Forward Antonio Dupree is one player that we feel could have a very nice season, he has a good skillset from the wing but also can mix it up inside at 6’4. The Bears also have some really good senior guard play and are a well-coached group, be on the lookout for them to make some major noise this season.
