Cowtown Tip-Off Recaps: Superb Small Forwards
Michael Jefferson / 6’6″/ SF / Waco Midway / 2020
Jefferson had a decent performance against Waxahachie. He hit a couple of stationary spot-up shots from behind the arc and was excellent moving without the ball in his hands. Jefferson made the proper cuts at the right times to receive passes for easy scores in the paint. He still needs to be stronger with the ball and improve his consistency making open shots from behind the arc. He scored 12 points in his Midway debut.
J.T. Warren / 6’3″/ SF / Waxahachie / 2019
J.T. does the dirty work on the interior for this new look Indian squad. He plays out of position for his team, but it gives him the chance to displays his high motor and willingness to get physical and grab boards. J.T. is also known as a catch and shoot threat from deep. He played big in the second half hitting two crucial three pointers and was a beast on the glass grabbing eight boards. He finished with a team-high 16 points in the win.
Samuell Williamson / 6’7″/ SF / Rockwall / 2019
He did not shoot the ball as well as he usually does, but I love the energy Sam brought to the court in the game vs. Little Elm. He is the vocal leader for the Yellow Jackets and impacted the game in other ways than scoring. The Louisville commit protected the rim, made on-point outlet passes, and cleaned the glass. He made big shots from the outside when it mattered and scored the game winning free throw to close it out. He scored 21 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists in the nailbiter.
