Cowtown Tip Off Recaps: Best Point Guards
De’Vion Harmon / 6’1″/ PG / Denton Guyer / 2019
De’Vion faced heavy loads of pressure from a tough Lancaster squad, but handled it as a composed point guard should. He did not shoot it well from deep, but he got to the rim at will finishing with floaters using either hand. What stood out about Harmon in this performance was his elite rebounding ability from the point guard spot. His size and strength allows him to play physical and battle with bigs on the defensive glass. He finished with 19 points and was one rebound short of a double double.
Mike Miles Mike Miles 5'11" | PG Lancaster | 2020 State #161 Nation TX / 6’2″/ PG / Lancaster / 2020
Mike was the high point man for the Tigers in the game vs. Denton Guyer. He did not shoot it well from the field (0-7 3PT), but I loved how he looked to attack the rim to draw fouls. Miles needs to focus more on getting to the basket rather than settling for jumpers. His ability to get into the paint will always easily open up the rest of his game and allow him to create for others. He finished with 17 points in the loss.
C.J. Smith / 5’8″/ PG / Mansfield Timberview / 2019
C.J. had a nice performance against Richardson J.J. Pearce. He displayed mature decision making and shot the ball extremely well from the perimeter knocking down three shots from deep. The unsigned senior is a small, but electric guard who is a terrific ball handler that can always create space to get a good look from the outside. He finished with 20 points in the win.
