Contenders, Sleepers, & Prospects: West Suburban Conference
We are now in the month of November and that means the season is almost here! With that being said we are looking across the state at various conferences and previewing the teams and players to watch! Today we dive into the West Suburban Conference!
Pre-Season Player of the Year
Evan Taylor (Glenbard West)
Taylor is committed to Southern Illinois. He is a small forward that could be better described as a point-forward. His best asset is his passing. Tremendous feel for the game at his size in both the open floor and transition. Good scorer that can get to the basket with long strides and hit mid-range jumpers.
Team to Beat
Oak Park River Forest gets the slight edge here. Very talented team that has senior leadership. Dashon Enoch and Charlie Hoehne are super experienced leaders. Both should produce significantly this year. Chase Robinson and Anthony Roberts are two other seniors that are getting college attention. They also added a stud transfer in sophomore Isaiah Barnes who is one of the top young wings in the state.
Biggest Threat
Downers Grove North is right there with OPRF. It is because of their backcourt. Semaj Henderson and Trey Boston are dynamic scorers that can both go off for 30 points on any given night. Connor Ilyavi and Noah May bring skill at the forward and center spots. The most talented long term prospect might be sophomore Kevin Bozeman who is a combo forward.
Sleeper Team
Lyons is stacked with guard play. They have loads in the younger classes, but it starts with a senior trio. Those three are Minnesota Crookston commit Tyrese Shines, Josh Berry, and Nolan Niego. This three guard lineup compliments each other and will be the core of this team making a run in the conference.
