GREAT NORTHERN U.P. CONFERENCE
ESCANABA ESKYMOS – Last Season: Overall 14-7 League 5-3
The Eskymos lost just two seniors from last years team. They are a year older and a year wiser. They should compete for the league championship. They have length and depth and that makes for a dangerous combination. The key players returning are Nash Jared Sr. (6-4 SF) is team’s leading returnng scorer. Austin Willette Sr(6-5 C ) is the team leading returning rebounder. Craig Kamin (Jr. 5-11 G) is team assist leader. Carter Hudson So. 6-7 / C, F came on strong last year and will continue to develop.
GLADSTONE BRAVES – Last Season: Overall 15-6 League 8-2
Looking to build on their campaign last season where the Braves were voted UPSSA Boys High School Basketball Team of the year. Lead by Northern Michigan commit 6-foot-2 guard Reece Castor. Rudy Peterson, Sr. a second All Conference performer last season returns along with Jared Ness, Gladstone, Sr.
KINGSFORD FLIVVERS – Last Season: Overall 9-11 League 5-9
What is Flivver you ask? Well a Flivver is a nickname for the Ford Model T, the first mass-produced automobile.If the Flivvers want to compete this year then they better get their motor running. First team all-conference player last season F Luke Terrian (6-2, Sr.) returns along with Sr. Tyler Beauchamp, a Second team all-conference last year.
MARQUETTE REDMEN – Last Season: Overall 15-7 League 6-2They finished tied for the league championship last year. Returning players like Marius Grazulis,, 6-10, Sr., C who has mutiple D2 offers and is looking to enhance his game and get the attention of larger schools. Other contributors to the Redmen are Luke Ogea Jr. and Bryce Brazeau, Sr. both recieved post season recognition in conference play.
MENOMINEE MAROONS – Last Season: Overall 2-17 League 0-7
The Maroons struggled last season. Keagan Monroe, Menominee, 6-1 Jr returns to along with 6-3 Kyle Anderson and G Tyler Kuester. This team lacks size but lets hope heart takes over as the Maroons are looking for a bounce back season.
