Class 2 Teams to Watch
Here is a look at some of the Class 2 teams to watch:
Blue Eye: The Bulldogs won a district championship a year ago and return their top player in 6’5″ 2019 forward Andrew Mitchell, who has signed with College of the Ozarks.
East Buchanan: The Bulldogs move down from Class 3 to Class 2 and they have one of the best players in Northwest Missouri in 6’6″ 2020 forward Ethan Kilgore, who has already surpassed 1,000 points in two years.
Fordland: The Eagles return an excellent backcourt combination in 5’11” 2019 Jake Farnsworth and 6’2″ 2019 Hunter Burks.
Greenwood: With four starters back, Greenwood was going to be strong, but they became even stronger with the addition of 6’5″ 2021 transfer Aminu Mohammed, who is one of the best in the country in his class.
Hartville: A perennial contender in Class 2, Hartville will build around 2019 guard Wyatt Mahan and talented sophomore guards Ryce Piper and Eli Cook.
Hayti: After finishing second in the state tournament a year ago, Hayti will build around some solid returning players in 5’7′ 2020 guard Jerrod Cunningham, and 2019s Chrivante Moore and Ivory Winters.
Louisiana: The Bulldogs have feature one of the state’s top Class 2 offensive threats in 5’9″ 2019 guard Derek Richards, who has averaged 20 points a game for his career.
Mid Buchanan: The Dragons should continue their winning ways with the return of 6’3″ 2019 forward Christian Scaggs and 5’10” 2021 point guard Javen Noyes.
Milan:The Wildcats return a talented young nucleus from a team that advanced to the state quarterfinals led by 6’3″ 2020 Ryan Dabney, 6’1″ 2020 guard Hunter Shaw and 2021 guard Dominic Dabney.
Oran: Jacob Shoemaker returns for his senior year after being a standout since his freshman year. As a sophomore, he helped lead the Eagles to the state championship.
Spokane: After winning a district championship a year ago, Spokane returns 2019 guard Isaiah Bean along with talented 2021s Zane Gayle and Jackson Brey.
St. Joe Christian: The Lions move up from Class 1 to Class 2 this season. They will build around 6’2″ 2019 guard Malik Tucker and 5’10” 2021 point guard Quay Jeter.
Thayer: The Bobcats will field another solid team this season with the return of 6’5″ 2019 standout Ayden Stone back along with 6’5″ 2019 forward Dylan Spencer.
Van-Far: The defending state champions return a solid forward in 6’3″ 2019 Trey Miller, who was big down the stretch in the championship game a year ago.
