Carolina Forest Classic
Prep Hoops took in the games at Carolina Forest HS (Myrtle Beach) last night. The so called classic was just a 4 team event. South Florence HS, Carolina Forest HS, North Charleston HS and Belton Honea Path HS were in the event.
The 1st game of the night South Florence HS defeated Belton Honea Path HS 76-67. The Bruins jumped out to a 44-29 lead and never looked back. Justice Jackson came off on fire in the first half with 19 points. Jackson would finish the night with 28 points for the Bruins (2-0). Jackson connected on 4 three pointers. Korique Rainey added 20 points, Hampton Weatherford 12 points and Brian Sparks added 8 points.
Belton Honea Path HS is located in the Upstate located near Anderson. The Bears were led in scoring by Braylon Oliver with 20 points. Oliver (2021) has a great look to him and length. Joseph LeCroy (2019) finished the night with 9 points. The Bears finished the event (0-2) after losing to Carolina Forest HS the opening night.
The nightcap featured the host Panthers vs North Charleston HS. This game was back and forth of runs and the Cougars jumped out to 45-28 halftime lead. The Cougars tried to pull away from Carolina Forest HS but with 3:47 left in the game Kyle Watkins made it 66-58. Watkins went on a 8-0 run by himself to get the Panthers closer.
The North Charleston HS Cougars would eventually pull away with a 82-65 victory. The Cougars went (1-1) in the event after losing to South Florence HS on the opening night. Darjawuan Brown led the way with 26 points, Marquez Terry 18 points, Ralph Holmes 16 points (4 three pointers) and Dashawn Murray 7 points.
The Panthers fell to (1-1) on the season were led in scoring by Kyle Watkins (2021) with 19 points, Jackson Weatherwax (2019) 12 points, DJ Robinson 12 points, Mark Walker 10 points and Mason Garcia 9 points. Watkins, Weatherwax and Garcia just joined the team this week after finishing out the football season for the Panthers.
