We are in the midst of the early signing period for high school basketball. There are many prospects that will not sign this week and see their recruitments continue through the high school season. PrepHoopsIllinois takes a look at the best available prospects at each position heading into the season here! Here are the Best Available 2019 Small Forwards!
Tujautae Williams (Orr)
Overall Ranking: #16
Projected Level: MM
Williams is one of the most intriguing prospects on the board remaining. He has quality size for position along with athleticism. He showed this with the Chicago Demons throughout the spring and summer. Long wing that can score it and has the potential to make an impact on the defensive end of the floor.
Bryant Brown (Waukegan)
Overall Ranking: #17
Projected Level: LM
Brown is a versatile combo forward that actually fits today’s game of basketball well. Can play both the three and four. Brings toughness to the table. Quality rebounder. Showed flashes of an improved jumper during the summer with the Illinois Wolves.
Ryland Holt (Gibson City)
Overall Ranking: #25
Projected Level: LM
Holt had a monster close to the summer with the Illinois Irish. He became a favorite of PHI with his shooting from deep at 6’6”. Big time sniper from deep especially off the catch. Like what he brings to the table with his length, rebounding, athleticism, and can even play a small ball four in certain situations.
Martin Macenis (Willowbrook)
Overall Ranking: #27
Projected Level: LM
Macenis is a skilled small forward with a European type game. Crafty with the ball in his hands and has a knack for making difficult jumpers. Feel for the game.
Deng Reng (Wheaton North)
Overall Ranking: #28
Projected Level: LM
Reng played with Macenis on the circuit and they complimented each other well. With Reng he is a long and rangy combo forward that can shoot it some from the perimeter. Really like his potential on the defensive end being able to check multiple positions.
Landon Wolfe (Effingham)
Overall Ranking: #41
Projected Level: D2
Wolfe is just a winner! This southern Illinois wing moves tremendously well without the ball to get open and lights it up from deep off the catch. Crafty driver that plays with toughness.
Cortez Mosley (Peoria Richwoods)
Overall Ranking: #50
Projected Level: D2
Mosley opened our eyes late in the summer with the Illinois Warhawks. The central Illinois product is a freak show athlete that excels in transition and on the defensive end of the floor.
Ethan Helwig (Metea Valley)
Overall Ranking: #51
Projected Level: D2
Helwig is a skilled offensive threat. Plus shooter from deep with elevation off the floor and a quick stroke. Good court awareness and handles showed growth.
Greg Outlaw (Orr)
Overall Ranking: #61
Projected Level: D2
Outlaw is an upside play for the program that gets him. His best basketball is ahead of him! Quick twitched athlete with strength that plays above the rim. Potential to be a monster on the defensive end!
Anthony Roberts (OPRF)
Overall Ranking: #70
Projected Level: D3+
Roberts is a combo forward that can excel at either position. Solid face up game, runs the floor well, and can board inside.
Jeremiah Oden (St. Rita)
Overall Ranking: #71
Projected Level: D3+
Oden has a ton of potential, but the production hasn’t always been there. Long and lanky forward that can play both the three and four. Runs the floor fluidly and has a nice looking shot. Needs to add strength and produce this year as a senior.
Maurion Scott (Homewood Flossmoor)
Overall Ranking: #75
Projected Level: D3+
Scott impressed throughout the spring and summer with his scoring ability on the perimeter. Should be the go to scorer for an HF squad that could make some noise this season!
Keenan Jones (Whitney Young)
Overall Ranking: #80
Projected Level: D3
Jones is a Swiss army knife type player. Does a little bit of everything and will be a key role player for Whitney Young this season. Sound shooter off the catch that can also rebound and play quality defense on the perimeter.
Dylan Engler (Oswego)
Overall Ranking: #82
Projected Level: D3
Crafty all-around wing that can play the two or three. Clean looking shot and crafty driver off the bounce. Quality passer as well.
Kameron Battle (Oswego East)
Overall Ranking: #83
Projected Level: D3
Super bouncy combo forward that plays above the rim. He is quick to the glass for offensive rebounds and runs the floor very well.
Sam Silverstein (New Trier)
Overall Ranking: #87
Projected Level: D3
Silverstein is a player we have heard a ton of buzz about heading into the season that he has gotten taller and even better since we saw him in July. Bouncy forward that plays in the open floor. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
CJ Benton (De La Salle)
Overall Ranking: #93
Projected Level: D3
Benton elected not to play on the travel team circuit this past off-season so we haven’t seen him in quite some time. What you have to like about this prospect is his shooting from deep especially off the catch.
Isaac Stanback (Homewood Flossmoor)
Overall Ranking: #94
Projected Level: D3
Stanback is a high-motor athlete that projects as an energy guy at the next level. Strength allows him to play inside too. Excels in an up and down game. Good defender.
Keith Kiner (Chester)
Overall Ranking: #96
Projected Level: D3
Kiner is a sleeper wing from southern Illinois. Slasher that finishes on drives or in transition. Showed improvement throughout the circuit with the Illinois Bears on his jumper. Brings toughness and positional versatility on the defensive end.
