Best Available 2019 Power Forwards
We are in the midst of the early signing period for high school basketball. There are many prospects that will not sign this week and see their recruitments continue through the high school season. PrepHoopsIllinois takes a look at the best available prospects at each position heading into the season here! Here are the Best Available 2019 Power Forwards!
Chris Payton (Bloomington)
Overall Ranking: #5
Projected Level: MM
Payton is the top uncommitted prospect remaining in the state regardless of position. The 6’7” post is a freaky athlete that plays above the rim. Quick twitched athletic four that is an excellent rebounder both in and out of his area. Face up game has improved which has opened up more avenues to score along with his already quality scoring game on the block.
Rashaun Agee (Bogan)
Overall Ranking: #24
Projected Level: LM
Agree is an intriguing prospect that reminds us a lot of Tamell Pearson a year ago. The fellow Mac Irvin Fire product is a good rebounder with strength and mobility. Runs the floor great and is a presence defensively.
Kendrick Tchoua (Benet)
Overall Ranking: NR
Projected Level: LM
Tchoua moved to Illinois this fall from Maryland and will make his debut in our mid-season rankings. We saw him in a recent workout where he displayed strength, big time athleticism, and skill potential. One we will be watching closely this season.
DaChaun Anderson (Leo)
Overall Ranking: #57
Projected Level: D2
Anderson is one of the best rebounders in the state still on the board. Junk yard dog four man that is a high energy rebounder and hard-nosed defender.
Chris White (Marian Catholic)
Overall Ranking: #59
Projected Level: D2
White is a quality prospect that has a nice frame and potential. Good athlete that can score on the block and from 15 feet in. Runs the floor and rebounds well.
Karl Wright (Springfield Lanphier)
Overall Ranking: #60
Projected Level: D2
Wright is a freaky athlete that makes a lot of highlight reel type plays on put backs and alley-oops. Plays with a high-motor and is active defensively being able to switch on multiple positions. The skill flashed at the end of the summer so we are looking forward to seeing how it has improved since July.
TJ Wicks (Kankakee)
Overall Ranking: #68
Projected Level: D3+
Wicks totally looks the part with his broad shoulders and long arms. Bouncy four man that flashes potential. Can he put it all together as a senior?
Michael Tyler (Springfield Southeast)
Overall Ranking: #105
Projected Level: D3
The long and lanky four man changes the game defensively with his length and anticipation. Definitely has major bounce and shows that off blocking shots. Flashes skill on occasion, but most of his points come on put backs.
Jeremiah Stamps (Simeon)
Overall Ranking: #106
Projected Level: D3
Stamps should be an interior presence for the Wolverines this season. Strong power forward that can anchor inside, but also face up from 15 feet. Quality rebounder.
Dylan West (Hillcrest)
Overall Ranking: #107
Projected Level: D3
West is a quality area rebounder with size. Not the greatest athlete, but he knows how to play the game. Finishes on quick passes with his strong hands inside and gets on the glass for put backs.
Marquise Ratcliff (Bolingbrook)
Overall Ranking: #108
Projected Level: D3
Ratcliff is a wiry athlete with upside. Runs the floor tremendously well and can grow into a plus defender.
Danardo Jones (Timothy Christian)
Overall Ranking: #109
Projected Level: D3
Jones is super intriguing with his elite athleticism. He flashes it two or three times a game blocking shots or with a SportsCenter highlight dunk. Overall needs refinement, but definitely worth taking a shot.
Kendrick Williams (Joliet Central)
Overall Ranking: #110
Projected Level: D3
Williams is a physically built four man that is a tough scorer around the hoop. Bullies his way to deep post position and scores well on the block. Rebounds very well!
