Best Available 2019 Centers
We are in the midst of the early signing period for high school basketball. There are many prospects that will not sign this week and see their recruitments continue through the high school season. PrepHoopsIllinois takes a look at the best available prospects at each position heading into the season here! Here are the Best Available 2019 Centers!
Jermaine Hamlin (Lincoln)
Overall Ranking: #34
Projected Level: D2+
Hamlin is the best uncommitted center in the state by a considerable margin. The big man has size, athleticism, and upside. Rim protector on the defensive end along with being a big time rebounding presence. Offensive potential flashing a jump hook, but the majority of his points come on dunks.
Vuk Djuric (Lane Tech)
Overall Ranking: #99
Projected Level: D3
This Lane Tech big man is an under the rim big that plays physical around the hoop. Area rebounder and is efficient with his touch around the basket.
Evan Pogge (Normal Community)
Overall Ranking: #100
Projected Level: D3
Pogge had a strong July with the Illinois Irish’s second squad. He anchored them on the interior with his rebounding and defensive presence.
Pavle Pantovic (DePaul Prep)
Overall Ranking: #104
Projected Level: D3
Pantovic is a consistent presence inside. Not going to wow you with athleticism, but he is in the best shape of his career and is primed to be the interior presence that leads DePaul Prep deep in tournament.
Achaun Clinton (North Chicago)
Overall Ranking: #126
Projected Level: D3
Clinton is an intriguing prospect, but also a very big unknown. We were intrigued early in the season last year with his build and athleticism. Was quiet most of the season. Will he breakout as a senior?
Patrick Torrey (Pekin)
Overall Ranking: #136
Projected Level: D3
Torrey jumped on our radar during July. He is an area rebounder that presents quality size.
