Beach Ball Classic Preview
The annual Beach Ball Classic held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is one of the most prestigious events in the country and has been going on for more than thirty years. Some of the featured players than have graced the court are Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Rasheed Wallace, Raymond Felton, and Vince Carter are some of the names. Every year, some of the top teams in the country come down to Myrtle Beach and battle it out for four days to see who is the best.
This year, two teams from North Carolina are making the trip down.
North Mecklenburg HS-Led by sophomore guard Chris Ford, a big and athletic scorer who excels at shooting the ball and getting to the rim and 2020 point guard Tristan Maxwell, who has some high major offers. DeMar Anderson will also be a pivotal player this season for Head Coach Duane Lewis, who is in his 21st season as head coach at North Mecklenburg.
Cox Mill HS-The two-time NCHSAA defending 3-A state champions bring Duke commit Wendell Moore and Charlotte commit Caleb Stone-Carrawell to the beach to battle it out. Also a key contributor for The Chargers is senior guard Cody Cline, a do-it-all player that had a great Beach Ball Classic last season. Cox Mill loses UNC freshman Rechon Black from last season but return the state player of the year in Wendell Moore.
