Arlington Lamar vs. Grand Prairie Game Recap
Arlington Lamar vs. Grand Prairie
Game Recap
Arlington Lamar and Grand Prairie have talented prospects/players on their squads. This game was not a very high scoring game and although it was very fast paced one, there was a lot of miscues for both teams. Grand Prairie had less mistakes early on which led to them getting into a comfortable early lead. The players who contributed a lot in the early lead was 6-foot-7 2020 Wing Donald Ghostone and point Guard Juan Merino. The two did a good job of making plays for their teams on the offensive and defensive end. Juan made it tough on people with his speed in the open court and also with his suffocating on the ball defense. Ghostone showed spectators early on why he is a top 75 player in the state for 2020. The long lanky wing showed off his smooth jumper and finished well in transition and also grabbed multiple rebounds for his Gopher squad. Lamar answered in the second half despite being down 11 in the start of the 3rd. Players Kylan Phillips, Shannon Robinson and Jalen Johnson stepped up for the Vikings. Shannon Robinson did a little bit of everything whether it was starting the break, finishing in transition, or hitting jumpers beyond the three-point line and also grabbing tough rebounds. Point guard for Lamar, Kylan Phillips played with toughness on both ends and advanced the ball quickly up the court to help his team in the come back. The game was tied up with 15 seconds to go and Denzel Johnson gets the inbound pass and attacks the lane where he misses the shot but teammate Jada Kenyi follows it up with a tip-in with 3 seconds remaining to give Lamar the lead and the 60-58 victory.
