Class of 2019: 5 Under the Radar Point Guards
AAU Season was great for the Alabama 2019 class. The class as a whole has shown vast improvements and college coaches have taken notice. This article will talk about five point guards that are floating under the radar, and that are poised for big senior years. (Image Credit: Garrett Tucker and HoopSceen)
Eddie Smith (Huffman): Eddie is a 6’1-6’2 point guard. The kid is a bull dog. He plays hard. He defends. He can score on all three levels. Eddie is an excellent finisher in transition, loves the midrange pull up, and he has a good academic standing (24 ACT and 3.1 GPA). Low-major schools should have Eddie on their board.
Benni Gambino (Daphne): Benni is a smaller point guard. 5’11-6′ foot range. Crafty ball handler. He can flat out shoot the ball. Very good from three point range, and he has a strong midrange pull up. Benni has a very high basketball IQ. Recently signed with Coastal Alabama-Bay Minette (JUCO).
Parker Boswell (Spain Park): Boswell is a fifth year varsity player. He’s a 6’1-6’2 true point guard with a tight handle, excellent court vision, and solid playmaking ability. Parker is also a good finisher around the rim. Staying healthy and showing off an improved offensive game from all three levels will make Boswell hard to pass on.
Braxton Holland (Austin): Holland has a knack for handling the ball. He’s a quick playmaker with an improved offensive game. Holland is a smaller guard, but he is a fearless finisher. Through the start of the season he has shown off an improved shot and the ability to score on different levels. If the trend continues upward, Holland could receive several collegiate offers.
BJ Comer (Prattville Christian): Comer is known for being a sniper, and a very confident player. He is 6’1, and his improved handle has made him a nightmare to defend. He will pull up from deep or attack the paint aggressively. With the improved overall game, teams that need a scoring point guard should have Comer on the board.
