2021 Washington Prospect Rankings
Talent always comes in waves. 2009 had elite guard play with McDonald’s All American’s Peyton Siva, Abdul Gaddy, and Avery Bradley. A year later, 6’10 center, Josh Smith was on the scene. In 2011, Tony Wroten and Gary Bell were both elite combo guards. What does this have to do with the 2021 class in Washington? The answer is this class has an opportunity to be special due to the fact that there is a mixture of outstanding guard play, versatile bigs, and promising wings. These players are just beginning their sophomore years, but this class will be something to watch for years to come.
Further breakdowns to come on different positional players throughout the class, but here’s a quick preview of some notable sophomores in Washington!
Paolo Banchero, 6’9 F, O’Dea HS- Banchero is a super prospect in the state of Washington. He has put in a lot of work at Ford Sports Performance (Bellevue) working on his body and overall athleticism. Genetics never hurt too! His mother was a standout on the University of Washington women’s basketball team and his father played tight end for the Huskies. The sophomore holds offers from major schools all throughout the country and his recruitment is just heating up. O’Dea is a must see team for college coaches and fans, as Paolo looks to help his team compete for a 3A state championship.
Kaden Perry, 6’9, F, Battle Ground HS- Kaden Perry is one of Washington’s best kept secrets. The 6’9 sophomore has never played on any shoe circuit to date, instead choosing to compete with his high school the entire summer season. That is expected to change next spring. He has very long arms, great timing on his shot blocking, and is very bouncy around the basket. More information on Kaden to follow, so definitely be on the lookout!
Noah Pepper, 6’4 G, Selah HS- Noah Pepper has been on the radar for many years now with his outstanding play through his youth basketball days. His “do-it-all” playing style has continued into high school and he has only gotten better. Noah is physically advanced as far as his strength, balance, and body control. He has already started to recieve some Division 1 interest.
John Christofolis, 6’3, SG, O’Dea HS- This rising prospect made a name for himself this summer! John is hands down one of the best shooters in the 2021 class and gets great elevation on his shot. At 185 pounds, he also has the physical strength to perform in the most physical settings at this stage of his career. His role is expected to expand this year for O’Dea and he is coming off a big summer with Seattle Rotary’s 16U team gaining multiple D1 offers. *Feature story coming soon of John’s recruitment!
