- Scotty Draud, Beechwood – Scotty remains in the top spot of this group of wings and inside the top 5 prospects in the class overall. Draud heads into his sophomore season after averaging nearly 21 points per game as a freshman at Beechwood. Scotty has grown to 6’5 and keeps adding inches to his height and bulk to his frame. Several D1 coaches have taken notice and have made their way to the gym at Beechwood this fall. Look for Draud to be in contention to be the top player in the class by the time he finishes his high school career.
- Isaiah Mason, Bowling Green – Another player who could be firmly in discussion for top player in the class by graduation, Mason is one of my favorite players in the class. Isaiah is long and athletic with a good deal of bounce too. The biggest knock on Isaiah is a general lack of strength that keeps him from being able to finish through contact at the rim. Isaiah has started to bulk up heading into this season and is primed for a breakout year. Bowling Green will be fairly young but Mason could find himself in a leadership role this season.
- Deajuan Stepp, West Jessamine – Stepp is one of those kids who you just keep hoping for a growth spurt to come for him. He’s tough and fairly skilled but if he doesn’t grow he’s going to have to transition to the point guard spot. I love how hard he plays and I really think he can be a mid major D1 prospect if he can add a couple of inches of height so he can stay a wing prospect. Deajuan is a really good slasher and improving shooter. Look for him to be one of the best players in the 12th region this season.
- Anthony Woodard, Logan County – “Rooster” starts over at Logan County after spending his freshman season at Russellville. Woodard should dominate in his district with his athleticism and motor. In order to make the level of college he desires, Anthony needs to develop the work ethic that can get him to that D1 level. Rooster has a crazy amount of potential. He just needs to develop the consistency that comes with maturing on and off the court.
- Wyatt Vieth, St. Henry – Wyatt is coming off a freshman year where he averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds and could double those averages as a sophomore for St. Henry. Vieth is an underrated athlete with a good build and toughness. He’s going to have to be one of the best players in the 9th region if he wants to lead St. Henry to a successful 2018-19 season. Look for Wyatt to have a lot of pressure on him from the very first tip off of the season.
Other Wings to Know:
Sam Conley, Spencer County – Athletic player who can bully his way to the rim.
Mason Moore, Rowan County – Moore’s eligibilty is up in the air after a transfer from Paintsville was denied.
Isaiah May, Johnson Central – May should have impressive stats this year in the always fast paced system that Johnson Central runs.
Jared Wellman, George Rogers Clark – 6’4 wing looks to get back to his high scoring ways after a transition year at GRC.
Tyler Slone, Oldham County – If Tyler reaches his potential, he can be a top 10 player in the class. He has all the tools.
