2019 Top Performers : West Florence HS Turkey Shootout
Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the 2019 Top Performers from the West Florence HS Turkey Shootout this week.
Tre Jackson – Blythewood HS
Jackson was center stage here and will take his talents next season to Iowa State University. Jackson just makes plays and does it with such ease at times for the Bengals. Jackson is the leader of this Bengals squad and has the talent to make a deep run again this coming season.
Travis Thompson – Blythewood HS
Thompson has a blue-collar type attitude and gets stuff done. Thompson recently visited St Andrews University (NC) according to Head Coach Zeke Washington. Thompson nicknamed “Red” plays both ends of the floor and is a great glue for a program. Thompson also excelled on the football field as a defensive end.
Latrell Taylor – Keenan HS
Taylor is a shot maker for the Raiders. Taylor finished the night with 16 points vs Darlington HS in the championship game. Taylor has the ability to create is own shot or pop off a screen for a open look.
Jamaric Morris – Timmonsville HS (pictured on front)
Morris really played well today for the Whirlwinds. Morris has a football scholarship offer on the table from South Carolina State University. Morris played quarterback this season for the football program. Morris scored all of his 18 points around the basket and didn’t seem to extend outside the lane. Morris 6’3 showed to have great body control with the ball.
Darius Dawson – West Florence HS
Dawson is a player we have seen since September at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach. Dawson didn’t play at all in the 1st half of the game as several starters sat for the Knights. Dawson has good length and runs the floor well. Dawson uses his left-hand quite well around the basket to finish plays.
Dawson at times put the ball on the floor from the top of the key and drove it to the cup. Dawson is a military kid and recently played in South Dakota last season.
Kenynon Scott – Darlington HS
Scott scored 11 points in the loss to Keenan HS in the championship game. Scott a combo guard came up with some big shots down the stretch. Scott has a super quick shot release and likes to leak in transition at times for some cheapies on the other end.
Jahrique Isaiah – Loris HS
Prep Hoops mentions Isaiah here even though he wasn’t here on Wednesday for the Lions. Isaiah was the absolute stat sheet stuffer for the Lions a season ago. Isaiah played in the first 2 games but had a family obligation here on Wednesday. Loris HS was a last minute replacement in the event.
Asanti Price – Keenan HS
Price is back at Keenan HS and enrolled at the school. Price was attending Combine Academy in Lincolnton, NC. Price attended Eau Claire HS last season before transferring over to Keenan HS. Price played this summer at the Coker College Team Camp with the Raiders. Price will start playing with the Raiders this coming week.
