2019 Top Performers : Bishop England Preseason Tourney
Prep Hoops will take a look at some of the top performers in the 2019 class from this weekend at the Bishop England Preseason Tourney.
Ja-Saun Pryor – Pinewood Prep (Summerville) (pictured on front)
Pryor really came out playing this weekend for the Panthers. Pryor 6’4 wing player really looked to settle for his perimeter jumper last season. Pryor today was in attack mode and it showed as he went for 28 points Friday and 25 points Saturday. Pryor has really good length and a rangy form. Pryor started his career at Woodland HS before coming over to Pinewood Prep as a junior.
Cameron Carraway – Heathwood Hall (Columbia)
Carraway is a kid that we really don’t recall in the past and Prep Hoops saw the Highlanders play few times last year. Carraway really compliments Isaiah Caldwell very well on the floor. Carraway has a scorer’s mentality on the floor. Carraway was able to knockdown the 3 ball or get the ball to the bsket today.
Dal’mont Gourdine – Garrett Academy (North Charleston)
Gourdine 6’5 decided to pick up his intensity in the 2nd half after a slow start for the Falcons. Gourdine a physical looking kid will concentrate on football at the college level. Gourdine has several looks from Power 5 schools.
Donnell Bowens – Low Country Leadership (Hollywood)
Bowens played up and down today for his Lions squad. Bowens played great a few months back at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach. Bowens today at times tried to do a little too much. Bowens finished the day with 18 points in the loss to Beaufort HS.
Trae Heyward – Beaufort HS
Heyward 5’8 point guard was really in the middle of a lot plays today for the Eagles. Heyward a scrappy point guard was able to penetrate-kick and get the ball into the lane. Heyward played with a fearless mindset on the floor and wasn’t afraid to dive on the floor for a loose ball. Heyward was constantly cheering for his mates at all times even when he went to the bench for a quick breather.
