Continue ReadingWith rankings recently updating we decided to take a deep dive into the class of 2019. The 2019 class is a strong one as it is so guard dominant. There are a few players that plenty have heard of but a few that have jumped on the radar after a strong previous season and put the time in this summer, here is part one of the top shooting guards on the class with their rankings.
Kenny Foster- Smoky Hill- Rank 1
Kenny is the top player in the state of Colorado and is headed into his most important season to date. He has a lot on his plate and Senior year is where it all has to come together. Foster has been one of the most consistent players in the state as he is averages 17 points per game for his career and now the Wyoming commit has a lot on his plate with some of the state’s best big men no longer there. This is a season that he must take his game to the next level and prove himself even further. He will surely be a Mr. Basketball candidate.
Kwane Marble- Denver East- Rank 2
Kwane takes on the No. 2 spot in the top rankings as he is headed into a season where all eyes are on him for the first time in his high school career. He is the best player on the team and will have to step up. He was sidelined for a majority of the summer with a foot injury and did not get much court time so he is easing back into the swing of things. He is chasing the number one spot and with the overall results of Denver East being reliant on his play he is one of the most important players in the state for his Senior season.
Chase Hettinger- Castle View- Rank 3
Chase is a controversial No. 3 on our overall rankings as he is on a team that hasn’t been successful throughout his basketball career. Castle View has yet to have a winning record and with a 12-12 overall record last season they are looking to finally show that they can put it all together – Castle View will go as far as Chase takes them. He is a walking bucket as he is capable of going for 30 points on any given night and he has put up incredible numbers while being the main focus on a team that has underachieved. Chase has impressed at some of the biggest events, changed club teams and excelled to a new height. Chase is having an incredible basketball career thus far and is a huge point of emphasis for a team that will most likely have its best year. Chase has a lot to prove this year and will have to show the rest of the state why him being in the top three players in the state is the right call.
Jamil Safieddine- Regis- Rank 5
The growth of Jamil over the last couple of years is what warrants this pick and Regis is going to be one of the top teams in the state as they have one of the most balanced rosters in the state. Jamil has been consistent during the season and elevates his team and game in one of the toughest conferences in the state as well. When Jamil is on there are not many defenders in the state that could stop him and I expect this Regis team to be a team that makes it to the final four and possibly beyond behind the play of their senior guard. He makes others around him better, is dangerous with the ball in his hands or off-ball and can change the game in the blink of an eye. With Regis getting set to build on what was a mediocre last season I expect them to get off to a quick start and look to turn heads early. Jamil will be leading the pack.
Matthew Ragsdale -Lewis-Palmer-Rank 8
Matthew is a player that made arguably the biggest jump from any kid in the state with an incredible high school season and continued that play with one of the best summers. He is this classes most improved player and the Western State Colorado commit really put it together this past year. Last season he led his Lewis-Palmer team to the 4A state championship where they barely lost and now this year they will have to put it together to win one. Ragsdale is a big-time scorer that can take over the game in multiple ways, he keeps everyone involved and makes the right play, he is aggressive on the boards and doesn’t back to the competition. Ragsdale will be a player that should take the state by storm yet again and up his play when it matters.
