Continue ReadingWith rankings recently updating we decided to take a deep dive into the class of 2019. The 2019 class is a strong one as it is so guard dominant. There are a few players that plenty have heard of but a few that have jumped on the radar after a strong previous season and put the time in this summer, here is part two of the top shooting guards on the class with their rankings.
Seth Fuqua- Vanguard- Rank 10
Seth Fuqua is a walking bucket and one of the state’s best scorers. There aren’t many players in the state that can fill up a stat sheet like this kid. With 1730 points in his career he is on pace to reach 2200 points for his high school career and is poised for another big season. He will be one of the state’s best all-time scorers all time if he stays at the same rate he is and it’s time to take him seriously. Expect to see more big scores from him and he is also an underrated passer that makes others better with his play.
Joseph Dalton- Chaparral- Rank 24
Joseph may have been the most important person on his loaded Chaparral team at times last season as he defends and scores at a high level when the team needed him most. He is a great two-way player and with Chaparral losing their best player this upcoming season it is going to be a play-by-committee type of year that he has to step up with. He is an above average shooter that can also bring the ball up. He is a mismatch at point guard and allows Chaparral to force teams to adjust to them. He can go inside and finish as well as distribute and is a player that will see improvements in his stats as a result.
Stephen Hayes-Overland- Rank 26
Stephen is a player that will truly have to bring it his senior season if the team wants to be successful. In his four years of playing varsity he has seen the highs and the lows of winning and losing. He has played on Overland and has won back-to-back state titles and has been a role player on those teams and now it is time for him to be a standout. He must use his aggressiveness he has on the defensive end and translate that to some offensive success. Hayes is a player whose size will win plenty of battles but has the intangibles to go along with it, just has to put it together.
Aaron Bokol-Eaglecrest- Rank 28
I’m exciting to see what kind of year Aaron has with him being a utility guy this past summer and not really having set plays for him. By doing so I believe it only made him a more complete player. He now has all the tools to impact the game without having the ball in his hands and will look more comfortable doing so as he can do so many things. With the emergence of Ty Robinson and Zion Ruckard this season I think that Eaglecrest could be one of the most dangerous team in the state and with Bokol being able to score by shooting the ball, attacking inside and slashing off ball will only open up the offense and allow the Raptors to become a more complete team.
